St. Joseph by-the-Sea and Notre Dame Academy locked horns for the second time this season on the pitch on Friday and, truth be told, it felt more like late spring rather than early November.

And you couldn’t find anybody complaining about it, either.

Ariel Ricca’s goal four minutes into the second half proved to be the difference as the Vikings squeezed out a 1-0 CHSAA victory over the Gators to lock up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming playoffs.

The defending CHSAA Archdiocesan champion Gators are snake-bitten after dropping a 1-0 decision to an Island opponent for the third time this season.

The playoffs, however, are scheduled to begin next week.

In the meantime, the Advance/SILive.com would like to share some additional photos from Friday night’s game.
