SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Theatre-by-the-Sea is postponing its 2021 summer season because of uncertainty about coronavirus restrictions, owner and producer Bill Hanney announced in an email to theater subscribers Wednesday.
Most shows will be moved to the 2022 summer season, but the pre-season production of "Mamma Mia!" is now scheduled for the end of this summer, Aug. 18 to Sept. 5, 2021.
“We are hopeful that the majority of the population will have been vaccinated and that the regulations will have changed substantially, allowing us to return to our beloved barn,” Hanney said in the email.
He added that the theater is hoping to present other entertainment this summer.
Tickets and subscription packages that have already been bought for the 2021 season will automatically be transferred to the 2022 season, he said. The box office can be reached at boxoffice.tbts@gmail.com for questions.
"We hope to see you at some point this summer!" he closed the email.
